BLOG 1: Media Autobiography
Its hard not to somehow be involved with the media in today's society because its the base of our communication these days. Books are my least favorite form of media because I feel that sometimes when I'm looking for information in a book, its outdated. Out dated books could be handy, but its usually not. I don't really go to books if I need information unless its a school project and its required to use a book as a source.
Newspapers are a great way for a person to catch up on the area/big cities around you. They are daily so your reading things that just happened or going to happen. I'm not subscribed to any news papers even though I think newspapers are important in our society. I prefer to read newspaper articles over the internet just because its more convenient. If your looking for a particular story you heard about about or just want to see whats going on in the world, its easier to punch into Google and see tons of articles and find.
I really enjoy magazines, all types of magazines. I will buy 10 magazines over a book any day. I am not subscribed to any because every month is different so id rather just go into Barnes and Nobles and find what I'm interested in. I am not really sure how a recording is media and I personally don't consider the radio media even though it has music and rarely good information. This is because the people who usually are the hosts only talk about dumb stuff that doesn't really apply to me because its just garbage. Now days people listen to their ipod's so know body is listening to them anyways. The only time I can recall the radio ever being really useful was the morning of 9/11 and listening to AM radio when the planes crashed into the twin towers. I'd rather get verbal information through the television. Its our society's main source of information and communication. It could have hundreds of channels if you have cable, and you could pick anything you feel like watching. In the future, I would like to transfer to UCLA's film school so I could create my own movies with my own thoughts.
